@JoelECarlson – Hello everyone and welcome to today’s Twitterview of @LindseySeavert of @WCCO. Lets begin!
Q – #1 So @LindseySeavert, where did you grow up and where did you go to HS and then college?
A: Hi! I grew up in @PlymouthMN_gov, graduated HS from Osseo @ISD279, and got a journalism degree from @IUBloomington.
Q – #2 Now did you always want to to TV, or did you look at print journalism first?
A: I went to @IUBloomington to major in print, but after an internship @CNN in Washington, I was bit by the TV bug.
Q – #3 I see. So where are some other locations that you’ve worked in, and what kind of work did you do there?
A: I started at KCCO in Alexandria, then a @WCCO bureau, next two @CBS stations, KTVN in Reno and @10TV in Columbus, OH.
I was a one man band in Alexandria, carried my own camera. Reporter/weekend anchor at @KTVN and reporter at @10TV.
Q – #4 As a reporter, what kinds of stories do you like to cover, and have you ever done any anchoring?
A: I anchored on the weekends @KTVN in Reno, but I think reporting is my true calling, I like offering people a voice.
I like telling stories about the underdog, people often voiceless. Children, seniors, homeless, those in poverty.
I love the power, emotion, and immediacy of the storytelling. Some don’t realize TV reporters write their own stories.
Q – #5 How did you feel when you heard that you were coming back home to cover the news? How has the TC’s changed?
A: It was a true blessing to return to my hometown and work @WCCO, a station I grew up watching and always admired.
Moving around the country made me appreciate the Twin Cities even more. It’s progressive, diverse, innovative.
I was gone from MN almost 14 yrs. I came back and saw a new city – light rail, Target Field, so much to experience.
Q – #6 What are some events, festivals or venues that you’ve attended and plan to attend to reacclimate to the area?
A: So far, I’ve been to the great Mpls farmers market, Target Field, spent time around chain of Lakes, and Grand Marais.
I can’t wait to experience the new @Guthrie Theater and I want to spend a day in Stillwater, MN.
My husband Ian (Indiana native) also has his sights set on @GrandmasMara as well. A runner’s dream.
Q – #7 Sounds like fun! More about you – Favorite: restaurant, store, hobby and summer activity?
A: We have a lot of eating to do here in the Twin Cities. So far, I loved Broder’s Pasta Bar in Linden Hills.
Still in search of my favorite store, but I love clothing/fashion so been to @mallofamerica and the West End so far.
Can shopping be a hobby? :) Seriously, I love cooking, running, fitness, reading and writing.
I tweeted about this yesterday. I went shopping for a bike this wkd. Living in Mpls=need a bike!
Thanks so much for the opportunity for this Twitterview. What a great concept you have created.
Q – #8 Shopping can be a hobby if you have a good bank account! :) To end, what final thought or mantra can you share?
A: The @Poynter institute in FL, a journalism think tank, teaches reporters to offer a voice to the voiceless.
Besides a pen/paper, a journalist should remember to always carry their two greatest tools -character and curiousity.
@JoelECarlson – Thank you @LindseySeavert for your time and your comments today! Welcome back to the Twin Cities, and have a great afternoon. :)
@LindseySeavert – Thank you Joel, it’s great to be home and you are part of what I missed about MN, all around good people and kindness.
